INITIATIVES

 

The employment unit engaged in the following broad outreach initiatives in accordance with various elements of FCC Rule 73.2080(c)(2):

 

Participated in 1  job fair by station personnel who have substantial responsibility in making hiring decisions.

Timber Creek Homes in Stratton hosted a job fair on November 10, 2007.   General Manager was in attendance.

Co-sponsored at least one job fair with organizations in the business and professional community whose membership includes substantial participation by women and minorities.

Co-sponsored a job fair with the McCook FFA Bison Ag Appreciation Day on January 16, 2008. General Manager was in attendance.

Participated in job banks, internet programs, and other programs designed to promote outreach generally (i.e., that are not primarily directed to providing notification of specific job vacancies).

We have participated in the Nebraska Broadcasters website EEO “One source”.

Established training programs designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions.

Staff participated in a sales and leadership training presented by Armada CEO Terry Shockley on October 25, 2007.

Established a mentoring program for station personnel.

In June 2007 showed part-time board operators how to cut commercials and do live shows that the full time on air personalities do.

Participated in at least 4 events or programs sponsored by educational institutions relating to career opportunities in broadcasting.

  • Hitchcock County 3rd grade students toured the station on May 9, 2007
  • McCook 5th grade students toured the station on April 24, 2007.

 

Participated in other activities designed by the station employment unit reasonably calculated to further the goal of disseminating information as to employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities.
